"pdflatex.exe not found" Error

"pdflatex.exe not found" Error

Having been a user of TeX Live for a few years, I was upgrading to TeX
Live 2013. I have had many problems installing TeX Live 2013, and
consistently get an error
"perl.exe" has stopped working
Finally I managed to install a very, very minimal version with only the
required packages, TeXWorks and some basic additional packages. Now, when
I go to typeset just a simple document, i.e.
\documentclass{article}
\begin{document}
Hello World!
\end{document}
And I get the error
"pdflatex.exe" was not found
I am currently abroad, away from my main computer, and it is important
that I get this working on my laptop asap. Does anybody have any ideas?
